2012 Summer Journal
In June and August of 2012 I painted quick studies of Lake of the Woods from 2 locations, one on Gunn Lake and one on Rioux Bay. These direct sketches are pure fun, letting the watercolour do the work and relaxing into the process without any preconceptions or expectations. For me they’re a diary, observations of changes in the water and sky, clouds, rain and reflections from hour to hour.
I’m grateful to (and for) my dear friends Jan Kowbel and Sally Kendall, who have given me many opportunities to immerse myself in the beauty and serenity they so generously share.
