These pieces grew from my fascination with ancient texts and textiles, which in aging, often acquire a graphic beauty. Scrolls, shrouds, scraps of fabric and decaying paper that reveal the mysterious interplay of what is gone and what is left behind. This is my exploration of the changing nature of all things and the beauty to be found in the textures of transition – images of reality, fragility and illusion.
Imagine a time in the future when someone unrolls a crumbling picture of a great forest and wonders what the word ‘forest’ meant – A child may pick up a fragile butterfly and wrap it in a tissue, in time the tissue shroud will be all that remains of the moment and the butterfly.
